That’s not very “nice”.
I “think” maybe i will “have” to be “upset”.
“Mitch” Hedberg “is” a “funny” “guy”.
“check” this “out”:
“i had a special for comedy central and i had to take a physical, a verbal physical. a bunch of yes or no questions but they were strangely worded… like: “have you ever tried sugar?… or PCP?””
That is all.
be sure to read the next post down, cuz you might be interested in it… i don’t know.
anyway, I was just looking through Andrew Schwab’s poetry book, “We Caught You Plotting Murder,” and one of the things in it caught my attention that hasn’t before, and I dunno why. But anyway, I think it’s really cool, so I thought I’d post it here. Anyway, if you like it, I think the book is like $8 now, which is less then what it was when I bought it… it’s worth it. Anyway, you can get it at www.sundaymassconsumption.com
So here it is:
“Rush Hour Remedy,” by Andrew Schwab
“When the subject of murder comes up I always consider it a little pointless. Consider Joe: He owns his own fate, doesn’t he? I mean, he financed a new life to erase the memory of his old one. He bought a new status , with a new car, and a new mate, with a new child. He purchased a new outfit to wear, in fact an entirely new outfit to remind him that he is not what he used to be. And day by day he takes his new pills, with his new diet, to find a new life that he just can’t seem to get his hands on. Work through the week to buy the weekend, to buy a drink, to buy a new vacation, to buy some new escape that only lasts until Monday. Joe will look back on all of this some day. He will look back when he is so tired of running, when he realizes he didn’t have enough speed to pull away for good. He will look back when he realizes he didn’t drink enough to make himself disappear. When the sweet medicine wears off his brain he will awake. Shall we leave Joe to collect himself when he comes to? Is there any need to take his life from him? I think not. He’s killing himself anyway.”
[edit: totally unrelated to the above… how come Nintendo is doing really awesome stuff with the Game Boy Advance, but their console system sucks beyond all things that suck? Check this out.
So I heard something today that so far is a rumor as far as I am concerned, but I will certainly ask Reese about it at the concert tomorrow night….
Apparently Mark Solomon (of Stavesacre for those who don’t know), Reese Roper, and Leanor Ortega (both of FIF) will possibly be going on a poetry/spoken word tour in early 2004. Sounds pretty cool to me, so I wanted to pass along the word…. I will let you know when I find out the validity of it.

6:10 a.m. is way too early of a time to wake up. I am not waking up tomorrow until at least 11.

“God looks after you especially.”
So I have taken this to mean that God loves me more then anyone else.
haha… Mitch Hedberg is hilarious…
“Last week I helped a friend stay put. It’s a lot easier then helping someone move…. I just went over to his house and made sure that he did not start to load stuff* into a truck.”
Hunger and Thirst was last night in the chapel… it was pretty cool. I liked it.
Ummm… that’s it. For now.

So how about this for something you hate:
You spend like… 15, 20 minutes, writing this really long e-mail to somebody just because it’s like.. hey, they’re pretty cool… they’re worth taking 15 or 20 minutes to write to…. and you’re all thinking they’re going to be all “hey, that’s pretty cool that i got a letter from this guy”, and you send it, and then you go to sleep all like that and being like, i hope maybe they write back soon, maybe, if they feel like it. and then the next day when you check your e-mail it’s all like “getting new messages” and you’re all, “wow, cool, that really cool person wrote me back already! they must think i’m pretty cool too to write back that fast!” but then, the from line is all “mail demon guy” and the demon wrote about how that really cool person didn’t get your e-mail because he stole it from them just because their e-mail box was full, and then you’re all, man, this sucks. i hate getting e-mail from demons.
the end.
“the poison makes it’s way through my body slowly
to the pleasure centers of my brain
if you were here I would beg for your forgiveness
but now it’s over and i can’t stay sober
though it isn’t like i’ve tried
on the front porch or on an airplane on vaction
or for dinner in a nearby down
I was so proud just to have you sitting with me
but now it’s over and i can’t stay sober
pour and swallow follow one shot with another
i’ll keep on till you agree to come back over
or untill there are x’s on my eyes
my old man always swore that hell would have no flame
just a front row seat to watch your true love pack her things
and drive away”
-“The Poison Makes,” by Paperback (or Pedro the Lion… same difference)
Don’t you hate it when you’re real tired and real bored and you can’t think of ANYthing that you want to do? Watching tv sounds boring…. playing games sounds boring…. you’re too tired to go out and do anything…. you don’t feel like sleeping…. it sucks… i gotta tell ya.
last night i got slowly decimated in Risk. But that is only becuase I was betrayed by my “ally”. The betrayer and the other fought against me for nearly 20 rounds. Their combined forces outmatched mine from the beginning. Fighting a 2 front war did not go well. They took away Europe.. they took away Africa…. I fled to North America, where I made my last stand. It is very sad to fight a war in which you are hopelessly outnumbered. By all rights I should have won, but I did not.
The betrayer will pay.
Oh yes, he will pay.
On a completely different note….
I read this book called When God Interrupts a few years ago, and I decided to read it again because I remember it being really good. Anyway, having nothing better to post on (as is obvious from my rant about risk), I thought I would post everything that I felt was worthy of highlighting out of the chapter I read last night… so here you go:
“When the sheep get ugly, and they will, we’ll quit if we’re doing it for any reason other than our love for Jesus.”
“If the call is truly from God, it does not go away. As Jesus was relentless with Peter, so he will constantly remind us of our mission.”
“When Christians really believe they need a savior, they are not as tempted to try to be the savior for others.”
“There is nothing as secure as slavery. Freedom scares us. When we are free, all we know is that we are on the way. We don’t know if we will get there. We certainly don’t know how we’ll get there.”
“The challenge of people of faith is to learn how to follow. Central to that task is giving up the expectation of knowing where we are going.”
“One of the most frustrating things about Jesus is that he just won’t settle down. He is constantly moving us away from places where we would prefer to stay…”
“Jesus will not settle for our watered-down dreams that accept life the way it is. He keeps pushing us toward a promise we cannot yet see.”
“When we realize that the madness of God is more sane than a life without passion, we are ready for the call.”
“The most important thing we do in responding to the call of God is to show up. We don’t have to be certain. We don’t have to be the best. We don’t even have to want to be there. All that would matter if we were responsible for making changes. But we aren’t. That’s the life we had to abandon when we started following God’s call. Now we are just responsible to show up with a vision of what God is doing in the world.”
“That vision is so powerful that it can shape the future. According to Jonah 3:10 it changed the mind of God, who decided not to destroy Nineveh after all. Change the mind of God? We can do that only if somewhere along the way, maybe in the belly of a fish, we learned how to pray.”
“Even Christians prefer the message that you get what you deserve. It’s a harsh message, but at least we understand it, and it assures us that justice will come in the end. What we don’t understand is God changing his mind. Ironically, that is what the whole story of Jesus Christ is about – God changing his mind about our sin having eternal consequences. We forget that part easily however, preferring to think of God as the one who will eventually even the score with this world that has been so cruel to us. Abandoning our desire for vengeance is about as hard as it gets in following our God who is “ready to relent from punishing”.”
There ya go.
It’s late. I want to write something, but I would rather sleep. 😉
Night 😉
