[EDIT: Head on over to www.darkestlight.org to see short film #2, jut added. Short film #3 to be shot (hopefully) tomorrow. If will likely go up next week.]

So every once in awhile, people do or say things that are so phenomally stupid that I cannot help but to comment on them. Today, watching the news, a few minutes ago, I witnessed just such a thing.

Apparently there are some issues in schools around the area regarding a new interpretation of some school code which apparently says that christmas carols talking about Jesus/God are not allowed. Apparently, last Christmas, non-Christians felt “left out” of Christmas. Huh. Really? Well that’s just a damn shame. Non-Christians felt left out of a Christian holiday.

Now, maybe this is difficult for you to understand, you poor sensitive non-Christian folks out there, but, when an entire holiday is based around Jesus, you can’t celebrate the holiday and ban him from any songs sung about it. I hate to be the one to have to inform you of this, but if you support this idea, you are a freaking idiot. Let me lay out the 2 options for you here… either…

1.) Christmas stuff can still be done in public schools. This includes the singing of traditional Christmas carols, with all their mentionings of Jesus. In my mind, it includes the inclusions of manger scenes, etc, if whoever is designing the decorations so desires.

or…

2.) Since it is a Christian holiday, and you are oh-so-concerned about the “seperation of church and state,” we could just not celebrate Christmas within our schools at all, meaning no plays or decorations or songs of any kind.

Now, outside of school, you non-Christians may still feel left out… I reccomend finding an alternative holiday.. Now, everyone is familiar with Chanukah (sp? too lazy to look it up), but for that you need to be Jewish, so lots of people are still left out. Now you know, this isn’t very original, but the solution was thought up years ago, just no one has latched on yet. It was on the show Seinfeld. That’s right folks, I’m talking about Festivus. It can be your very own holiday, non-restrictive of religous belief and affiliation. It doesn’t have any songs about Jesus in it. You can make up all your very own songs. It will be wonderful, and you won’t ever feel left out again.

Another option would be Decemberween, as seen on Homestar Runner. Or something else entirely. But you know, the point is, maybe you all can come up with your own holiday, and stop complaining when a Christian holiday reflects Christian beliefs.

I like this cd.

It’s a shame I just got around to buying it now.

“who pumps your gas, cooks your meals, works your fields
builds your skyscrapers, prints your newspapers,
it’s your next door neighbors
in the ghetto city, gated community,
in the hills of Appalachia or Beverly
metropolitan, carlatan, American
words don’t mean shit
and souls wear too thin

my faith is lost from the burning cross
to the “American owned and operated” swastika
there’s no pursuit of happiness in a land that’s void of love
why should God bless America?

who cleans your gutter and your sewer
and is gonna die sooner
working fingers ot the bone
than in an office on the phone
underestimated
overlooked too long
don’t tell me nothing’s wrong
it seems like all the good is gone
who stokes the factory fires
gets nothing to retire
75 and standing on a greasy fryer
metropolitan, charlatan, American
words don’t mean shit
and souls wear too thin

my faith is lost from the steeple to the cross
to the satellite evangelical thug
there’s no concern for selflessness,
just smother push and shove
why should God bless America?

i’m a citizen of the world that was made
the maker’s marks of soul on me they get over the shame
oh mercy all my ways”

“This is the new pistol.”
“Sweet, we get a new pistol!?  Is it more powerful?”
“We like to use the term ‘balanced’.”
“Balanced doesn’t sound anything like powerful.  Does it still kill in 3 shots?”
“Of course, as long as those 3 shots are preceded by 4 other shots.”

"These Petals
This blackened rose
This soil all my own
Shrouding your hollowed ground
Like seeds who'll never sow
Like forgery and larceny
And my ill-gained revelry
I recite these scripted lines
While embers of a different time
go drifting by

When every word you ever said came true
All I missed
in all of this was you

Can you see
A shadow on me, calling me to leave
Find in me
(you're the only home, you're the only home I know)
A trace of you in all this tragedy

These pieces
These shattered shards
Dancing in the moonlight
Glimmering and glistening
Preparing me for the night
I never learned to walk the surface on my own
So lately this ocean floor's been feeling more like
. . . home

When every word you ever said came true
All I missed in all of this was you

Can you see
A shadow on me, calling me to you
Find in me
(you're the only home, you're the only home I know)
A trace of you in all this tragedy

So take me in these fleeting moments of solitude in you
Remove this sordid fascination with shadow and remove
This shattered self for preservation
This commitment to undo
All that you forgave and give
And all you promised too
And all you promised too

Can you see
A shadow on me, calling me to you
Find in me
A trace of you in all this tragedy

Can you see
The shadow lifting; drifting home again"

They said it couldn’t be done….

They said I would be forced to shave my head bald today….

To all the naysayers and discouragers I have only this to say….

I have reached page 61…..

VICTORY IS MINE!

Well, since everyone is so keen on me shaving my head, you my be
disappointed to learn that I am presently mid-way down p. 56, meaning
that I only have a few pages left, and a few hours left in which to
write them.  Of course, if you doubt my abilities, you may find
this exciting news.  But I can only say…. don’t set yourself up
for disappointment 😉
