So today was the day of my filmmaking project. Woke up at 9, we finally got started shooting close to 10, were finished shortly after 1, went to mcdonalds, came back to my room and attempted to do some reasearch for my faith film and culture project…. i don’t really know what i am supposed to talk about for my 5 minute portion. maybe i will figure that out tomorrow. anyway, after that and about 30 minutes of laying on my bed talking to people on aim/msn, i went to the tuesday night screening to watch Jaws, which, btw, I am required to go to, so that is not a recreational activity…. i would have rather slept during those 2 hours… or done other work that i have to do. after Jaws was over, I started work on editing my video. It has to be 5 minutes, my initial cut was about 6 and a half, sans credits. I now have it down to 5:10 with credits. I need to try to get it down as close to 5 as possible without compromising the story….

at any rate, it is turning out really well, i was quite concerned as i was going over the footage, and while i was editing there was some stuff that i wasn’t sure if it would transition well, but it has. so at some point you will be able to see it. i don’t know if i will wait to put it up until darkestlight is up and running for real or not. we’ll see.

so tomorrow night i finish up the editing (most importantly adding an audio track to the film). And i have a paper or 2 to write. and my screenwriting assignment. bleh. another day of near zero free time (because well, i always squeeze in just a little bit, for sanity’s sake ;))

So I started shooting my first short film last night.

Unfortunately, our camera seriously sucks. It wouldn’t record for some reason that we couldn’t figure out, and then the battery died well before it should have. So I have do shoot it on a Hi-8 camera instead of mini dv, which really kinda sucks. Anyway, the other trick was lighting because the place I was doing it there were no power outlets or anything, so it had to be lit by car headlights.

I think it might have turned out ok, but I’m not totally sure. Unfortunately I was so busy trying to actually get the shot that I wasn’t really able to actually see the shot as it was taken.

Anyway, once it is done I should be able to get it online. Supposed to be done by Thursday, so… yeah. Here’s hoping 😉

I think my second 2 projects will probably turn out better. I will be shooting them on Super 8 instead of video. I will be lighting them with real lights. I will remember that if I need any shots at night that I need to make sure to rent a generator. Ok so that’s about it.

Well, the virus is slowly losing it’s fight. I will prevail once again.

Crazy viruses.

When are they gonna learn?

I bought Fable last night. So now I have a new thing to distract me from doing things.

I think I’ll be shooting my film tomorrow. or tuesday.

maybe monday night and tuesday during the day.

or any combination of any of those days, save for monday during the day because i will be at my internship.

ok that’s pretty much it.

later.

so this morning when i woke up i felt like… really really sick. had a decently high fever… 100.5, which, if you don’t know, i typically only get fevers at all if i’m like… REALLY sick.

however, as of right now i am not feeling too bad. my throat is still pretty scratchy…. and i want to avoid speaking… but… yeah. most importantly… no headache.

ahhhhh….

so once again, sorry about my previous post if you are on a dialup connection 😉 i’m sure it will be annoying for you. oh well 😉

tonight i went to see Blindside and mewithoutYou. However, The Kick (not to be confused with The Kicks, who were at the FSF show) were pretty decent. Now, the opening band, Namur, was freaking awesome 🙂 I bought their cd. It is very ambient and cool. I like it.

All in all it was a good show, I thoroughly enjoyed mewithoutYou. Unfortunately, I was way dehydrated and right before Blindside started I was about to pass out, so I had to hang out by the bar and drink water for awhile until I could see things normally again and not feel like i wanted to fall over ;). But, I had a good view from where I was and was content, though the crowd did look fun 😉

anyway, on the drive back up Sunset Blvd we saw a guy walking down the street holding an Emmy, but we didn’t have a good view of him, and so we couldn’t tell who he was. We saw Tom Green though… walking with some other people. There may have been other famous people too.. but he was the one we recognized. So uhh.. yeah. Tom Green. That’s kinda special. In a way.

Ok bye.

yesterday my filmmaking group and i went to Malibu to shoot Allie’s first project. Shortly after arriving we determined our camera from the school was not going to cooperate…. something is definately very wrong with the batteries or the camera itself… but one battery doesn’t work at all, and the other one will say it has a ton of life left and then go dead in like 5 minutes. it also ate the tape from Ryan’s project the other day, so there is a good chance we will have to reshoot some of that. So we had to use a camera of lesser quality and all that.. but,… you know.. whatever.

i think i am going to try to talk brandon into letting me use his XL1 for my project.

anyway, because there was really nothing for me to do there yesterday i took it upon myself to take random pictures the whole time. actually not the whole time, because i only took about half of the pictures i am about to post.. but.. yeah.

anyway, here they are…. pictures from our “shoot” in malibu yesterday:

the end.

sorry if you have a slow connection 😉

The first day of the internship went well.

James Cameron’s office is right down the hall from me.

I saw it.

I think if you go in unbidden you drop dead.

It’s kind of like the ark of the coveneant (as Zach pointed out).

And James Cameron is kind of like God.

(Not really, just in this analogy)

Or if you’re speaking strictly of the director/producer realm?

Or maybe he is like God, but not so much as to be sacreligious to say so.

At any rate, he has an office, and it’s a large one, but he was not in it, nor do i get the impression that he is around often. But maybe I will see him one day while I’m here. And maybe he will let me say “hi” to him. That would be special.

I don’t know the point of this post. I think I just want you to associate me with Jim Cameron through my vicinity to his office and therefore being cool vicariously through him. Yeah… I think that’s pretty much it. I want you to think I’m cool 😉

Ok bye.
