I got a fortune cookie today. I forget it’s exact wording, but what it said was basically the fact that I have a future. Which is a good thing, and yet, completely pointless, because I already knew that I had a future. However, it is slightly more encouraging then that time I opened up my fortune cookie and there was no fortune inside….

In other fortune-related news… my Jones Soda bottle cap I got today says “Your love-life will be happy and harmonious.” I wonder how accurate these things are… and if it is speaking of like… real soon.. or far distant future…. hmmmm….

I bought Thrice’s other cd today… The Illusion of Safety. I like it… I think even better then their first.

Later.

“True friends stab you in the front,
And keep you from getting what you want
When one more fix could kill you.

They help you realize that
You’re more or less then you first had believed.
You’ve so much to give and there’s so much you need.
Shortcuts through graveyards and a brand new way to breathe.

Three thousand miles just to learn,
Alltaht’s gold does not all shine
and helping words aren’t always kind,
When one more kiss could kill you.
Three thousand miles just to learn
How to let my guard down
Accept the fire that has spread among us.
And if you’re feeling all right,
You’ve got to play it again,
You’ve got to play it again…”

  1. i am all about fortune cookies. i save my ‘cool’ fortunes… tape ’em in my journal even.  my past 3 i didn’t like at all. i think i’m gonna stop going to the chinese place… the food may be decent but the fortunes are crappy.

  2. the first verse reminds me of the following: “Wounds from a friend are better than kisses from an enemy.” -Proverbs 27:6
how thankful i am for true friends who have been brave enough, obedient enough, and caring enough to confront me in love just when God knew i most needed it.
