which Episode II character are you?

Probably the greatest Jedi Knight of all. Like Obi Wan, you are wise and keep your feet on the ground at all times. You will not be outsmarted by anyone. You are always faithful to your friends. Be careful though, danger lurks around every corner – you could even be betrayed by those closest to you.

That’s right.

If I were in a movie, I’d be a funny sidekick!

What Jelly Belly flavor are you? I’m –

I am presently fairly sick.  Want to go do stuff, but I know I’ll be miserable if I do.  Stupid sickness.  Oh, and that new pic is me being sick and trying not to look it.

Ouch.  my throat hurts.  I don’t know why.

I’m tired.  I do know why.  It’s 3:40 am.  Craziness.

Anyway, I am up late because people were over here…. we played Dead or Alive 3 for awhile… then we stopped ;).  Then we had some fun with fire.  Set off several bottle rockets, and then went for some bigger fireworks…  first one just kind of banged and wasn’t too great, second one actually looked cool like an actual firework, and was aimed pretty well.  The last one was like really big… and was too heavy for the way we had it mounted to be launched…. and… it went straight into the trees, where it exploded… lol.  Luckily, the trees were wet because of massive storms today… but, yeah.

THEN we watched old episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the cartoon) for no apparent reason.  It was rather humorous ;).  Anyway, I’m dead tired… so I’m going to sleep now.  I will write more tomorrow maybe… I don’t know.

Ok, so the question has been asked….. what is my favorite movie?

Well, that is actually a fairly difficult question to answer.  There are a lot of movies.  I have seen a lot of them.  I also like a lot of movies for different reasons.  My reasons for liking Bill & Ted or Spaceballs for instance, are completely different then my reasons for liking Arlington Road, which, in turn, are completely different then my reasons for liking Braveheart.  These are all different types of movies, and therefore are judged differently.  A movie that is meant to be cheesy is good in it’s cheesiness, while a movie that is not meant to be certainly is NOT good in it’s cheesiness, although in some instances it can make for a hilariously bad movie, which one may love more then a good movie (ie Independence Day; Starship Troopers (sorry to any fans out there ;)).

I also have recently been getting more and more into movies, music, poetry, and other “artsy” things.  So I kind of like more artsy aspects of movies too.  Take for instance The Blair Witch Project.  Most people I know absolutely hated the movie.  The movie certainly wasn’t as good as it was hyped up to be, but I do think that credit should be given.  It had an excellent premise and was a good idea, executed in a somewhat mediocre way.  So plot-lines and premises are also important to the movie.

There are several movies that I think are excellently done, among them, Arlington Road, Braveheart, Star Wars (the original trilogy), Cube, Pitch Black.  Are any of them my absolute favorite movie?  I don’t know.  I don’t know that I CAN have a favorite movie.  There are just too many things to take into consideration.

ok, so umm… jon ordered this pizza…….  and overdid the asking for extra cheese.  Seriously, this thing had like massive mounds of cheese.  it was a huge pile of cheese on top of some bread, it didn’t qualify as pizza anymore.  As I picked up the “slice” (note: the pizza place didn’t even bother to TRY slicing it), it did not feel like I was holding a piece of pizza at all… it felt like i was holding a blob of melty cheese.  It was ridiculous.

So next time you order a cheese pizza from papa John’s, don’t simply ask for an “extra cheese” pizza, ask for a “ludicrous cheese” pizza.  They will have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about, but you can just tell them about the whole huge pile of cheese on top of some bread concept and they’ll get the idea.  It’s pretty good, but they charge you about $20 for it. mmmm…. ludicrous cheese…..

I watched The Saint for the first time in a few years yesterday.  Mostly just because Aubrey has gone on to me about how great it is like 3 or 4 times now…. so since I didn’t remember it very well, I needed to see if it really was as great as she seems to think.

My conclusion?  It is definately a good movie, above average, but by no means is it anything like the greatest movie of all time.  There were several things in it that definately could have been done better, the main one coming to mind is when the girl falls over the rail… the fall looks really fake.  But yeah, good movie, not greatest ever… sorry Aubrey :).

I also watched K-PAX for the second time today (that being the second time EVER, not today…  i didn’t watch it twice in one day).  I really like that movie a lot.  Very well done, very good acting (no, it isn’t the greatest movie of all time either ;)).  I really think Kevin Spacey did an awesome job with his character.  And Jeff Bridges is awesome in it too, and he was also great in Arlington Road, and anyone who hasn’t seen that movie HAS to… it is definately ONE of the greatest movies ever :).

Ah…. movies…. what would we do without them?

ok, so I think I am kind of starting to get sick.  have been coughing a bunch ever since I woke up this morning.. and… yeah.  Don’t really feel too bad or anything, but my throat is definately way scratchy.

I have resumed my re-reading of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.  It is indeed a very good book.  All you strags who haven’t read it yet should definately go pick it up.  It’ll make a real hoopy frood out of you.

An excerpt for you, as anyone who reads a portion of this book is forced to have an intense desire to read the rest of it….. ;):

“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy has a few things to say on the subject of towels.

A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.  Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; You can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you– daft as a brush, but very very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value.  For some reason, if a strag (strag: nonhitchhiker) discovers that a hitchhiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, washcloth, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet-weather gear, space suit, etc, etc.  Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitchhiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitchhike might accidentally have “lost.”  What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Hence a phrase that has passed into hitchhiking slang, as in “Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There’s a frood who really knows where his towel is.” (Sass: know, be aware of, meet, have sex with;  hoopy: really together guy;  frood: really amazingly together guy.)”

So yeah… good book 😉  You can also learn the answer to life the universe and everything… how the universe will end… and other interesting things.

I am going to finish my frappucino now.  I will write another post out of my own head rather then borrowing that of the late Douglas Adams later today….  😉

well, I am presently pretty bored.  Nobody has called here yet letting me know about anything happening, and neither heather nor jon are picking up their cell phones…. so.. yeah.  maybe there will not be any hanging out tonight.  how lame.  at any rate, a pizza is currently cooking in our oven.  it is the largest frozen pizza i have ever seen.  it barely even fits in the stinking oven ;).    anyway, hopefully, it will be good…. i’m getting pretty hungry 😉

but yeah… commercials are over and so i’m gonna go back to watching tv 😉  write more later.

why in the heck do people have to be so difficult?….

oh, and by the way… The Sum of All Fears is a pretty cool movie.  Probably worth your time to go see.

well, i am going to go and see a movie.  what movie?  i don’t know.  i don’t even really know what is out right now… but ummm.. yeah.  i was informed that that is what everybody is doing tonight, so i’m gonna go along….should be cool for the purposes of hanging out with people.  unfortunately, we are going to the theater in hagerstown because we have free passes to their from their screw-up during episode 2.  nothing wrong with the theater, i like it… i just don’t feel like being in the car that long tonight.  anyway, jon should be here in another 15 min or so, so i’m just gonna leave for now.
