First of all…. the concert was quite wonderful.  Even better then I had expected.

Ever drive down I-4 East with your window all the way down in pouring rain?  I sure have.  It’s quite the experience, I assure you.  I got only slightly wet.  It only was bad when I had to come to an almost complete stop…  then the water poured in ;).

For those that don’t know, no, this was not by choice.  My window has chosen to be stuck in the fully down position, and I have yet to take it to get it fixed.  So when I saw the dark clouds up ahead….  I could only wince and think “why!?  for the love of God, why?!”  but it turned out ok.  However, i must say, it is a better overall driving experience when water is not splashing off the interior of your door and into your eyes.

So if you haven’t figured it out by reading that, I was unable to get a ride with Sara(h?) to the mewithoutYou show.  I had to drive my own car down… and matt and zack came with me.  So not so much as I was hoping might happen happened there…  after we arrived there I talked to her briefly…  she was talking on the phone at first, but then when she got off she came up and say hey and i told her about my rain experience.

gosh… talk about getting shot down 😉  I’m glad that it at least seems like…  and I really hope… it was unintentional…  but… yeah… it was rough. 😉  At the end of the first band’s set… I decided to go talk to her… she was a little bit away from where i was, and so i walked over there…. but when i got there, she was just leaving to go over to where the people she came with were (which happened to be right where I had been beforehand)… anyway, she walked right past me right as i was trying to get her attention.  then i continued to try as she walked over there, but apparently she didn’t hear me.. 😉  then as soon as she got over there and i was trying to get her attention again, her friends and she immediately left to go down like up by the stage… and so…  i made one last desperate attempt and like…  managed to like tap her shoulder… heh.. but she was already too far gone.  I was already out of my element… that didn’t make things any easier 🙂  Anyway, I eventually managed to feel not pathetic enough to go and try and talk to her again…  and I managed to do so.  Anyway, she does seem to be cool.. and i didn’t get to talk to her much, but hopefully I will be able to talk to her and stuff at some point in the near future…  it just needs to be given some more time I think.

Now, as to the concert itself…  opening band was The Young and the Useless…. and they rocked the house 😉  They were seriously impressive.  Watch out for them, tons of potential there.  They were tight.   Only bad thing about them really was… vocalist seemed really really nervous.  You could hear it in his voice when he would talk and see it in his movement…   but otherwise great. mewithoutYou was seriously INCREDIBLE.  I can honestly say I was amazed… that is one of the best shows I have ever seen.  and it had nothing to do with the crowd (cuz the crowd was pretty boring ;))… it was all them.  the vocalist (sorry, i don’t know any of their names ;)) left the stage and went around behind everyone…  and then started screaming again…  he jumped down into the crowd, and like ran around in a pit-like thing that formed…  and grabbed onto somebody and continued screaming… and fell down on the floor… and continued…  haha… it was so great… but you probably had to be there 🙂  Ace Troubleshooter was pretty good too… but I felt both preceeding bands were much more enjoyable.

Then we went to a chinese restraunt where we were horribly out of place cuz we were all in like… concert attire… and everyone else there was at least…  moderately nicely dressed 😉  ah well.

For matt’s account of this little expedition…  go to his site… he is called “Valdeck”.

And I leave you with a wonderful quote that I just heard a few minutes ago on Space Ghost…  haha… 🙂

“friends are just enemies who don’t have the guts to kill you”

[Edit: Something I didn’t think to post last night for some reason…  in regards to the bands that played.  They were all 3 Christian bands… and the show was in a secular club/bar.  Anyway, I liked how they presented themselves to the crowd… they were very real honest and upfront with people… but were in no way pushy or overbearing.  I think my favorite thing said the whole night was by Aaron (I learned his name 😉  The mewithoutYou vocalist).  He was introducing the song of theirs which happens to be my favorite of theirs… The Cure for Pain.  Anyway, he said the song starts off about sex, and ends up about Jesus…  and then he said “and I’ve found that last part to be a lot more fulfilling”… and after that a bunch of people started to clap and he said no, you don’t need to clap.. and then something along the lines of “i’m not ashamed or anything like that…. well.. i guess, maybe i am.. a little.”  And just the fact that he is willing to be that honest and real I thought was incredible.

“Don’t waste your lips with words I’ve heard before
Kiss my tired head
Each letter written wastes your hand, young man
Come and lead me to your bed.
You gave me hope that I’d not lost her
And then thought it rather strange to see me smile
As I don’t do too much smiling these days.

She put on happiness like a loose dress
Over a pain I’ll never know
“So the peace you had,” she said,
“I must confess I’m glad to see it go.”
We’re two white roses lying frozen just outside his door
I’ve made you so happy and so sad
But which should I be more sorry for?

Come kiss my face goodbye…
The space below my eye, above my cheek
Tho I’m faint and fading fast,
I see a darkness and I shall be released
I’ll pass like a fever from this body
And softly slip into his hands.
I tried to love you and I failed
But I have another plan…

My Lord, how long to sing this song?
And my Lord, how much more
of this pretending to be strong?
When she stands before your throne
Dressed in beauty not her own
All soft and small, you’ll hear her call
“You brought me here,
Now take me home.””
