Why Further Seems Forever Sucks Now

So I guess I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon and join the Jon Bunch haters.  Here’s why:

Reason the first:  Jonathan Bunch can’t sing.   I mean,
this one is the most obvious… the guy can’t carry a tune worth
anything…  I mean really, my dog can sing better then this
guy.  They really should just pick up a bum off the street and pay
him to sing… he couldn’t be any worse.  I mean… who are these
“Sense Field” guys anyway?

Reason the Second:  He’s old.   I mean how old is this
guy anyway?  Late 50’s?  They might want to give him a walker
or something… i mean i thought the guy was going to die of a heart
attack or something….

Reason the Third:  No stage presence.  Watching this guy is like watching paint dry.  Really old paint, at that.

Reason the Fourth:  He’s not “scene” enough.  I mean… Chris
was emo, and Jason was hardcore….  this guy’s like…
jean… jacket.. man….

Reason the Fifth:  He doesn’t sound like or have the same range as Chris Carabba.

Reason the Sixth: He doesn’t sound like or have the same range as Jason Gleason.

Reason the Seventh: He lives in California while the rest of the guys
live in FL, and has only been in the band for a total of about 2
months.  One of which was spent writing for and recording the new
album.

Reason the Eighth:  Cornerstone was only the second time he has
ever done a live show with Further Seems Forever, and the first time he
ever sang any of the old songs in front of a real audience, with the
one exception being The Moon Is Down.

maybe you can see where this is going, or maybe you can’t.  i know
some people are sarcasm impaired, so here… let me spell it out for
you….

1. Jon Bunch is actually a really good vocalist.  Go listen to a
Sense Field cd.  Download a copy of the pre-release of Hide
Nothing.  Give an honest listen to the clip of their C-stone show
at cornerstonefestival.com.  Keep in mind that there is a reason
that Sense Field did as well as they did, which, by the way, is far
better then Further Seems Forever has done thus far.

2.  He’s old compared to Jason Gleason.  He is actually
pretty much on par with the age of the rest of this band members (early
30’s).  This really has very little to do with talent and the like
anyway, but i mean hey, it’s one of the things I’ve heard said, so I
thought I’d throw it in there…

3.  While this is perhaps the most legitimate criticism of what I
heard, he really wasn’t that bad, all things considered, but from what
i have heard he was somewhat lacking in stage presence when in Sense
Field as well.  It would be nice if he were to be more energetic
in the shows, but I do not think that FSF’s success depends on it.

4.  Yeah… he’s really not very scene.  Then, neither is the
rest of Further Seems Forever.  The fact that they are no longer
fronted by a hot scene kid probably will make a good many people
dislike them.

5 &6.  Maybe you haven’t been listening to FSF long enough to
remember the switch from Carabba to Gleason.  I started listening
to them during the switch, and while I never saw Carabba live, I saw a
lot of Jason haters out there.  Lots of people saying how much he
sucked and could never compare to Chris.  The exact same things
that I hear about Jon now.  Jon is different from Jason, no doubt
about it, but Jason was different then Chris.  Further Seems
Forever will be good regardless.

7. Yeah, this is a real reason.  When you live on the opposite
side of the country from the rest of your band it’s probably somewhat
difficult to squeeze in practice time.  The guy hasn’t had enough
time to make these songs his own yet.

8. This reason follows from 7… twice he has performed with FSF.
That’s it.  How can you hold a guy who has played 2 shows to the
same standard as a guy who played hundreds?  Did he miss
notes?  yes.  On the OLD songs, which he barely knows, and
which were written for people with entirely different vocal ranges then
himself.  Guess who else missed a lot of notes on songs when he
first joined the band…..  you got it, Jason Gleason.  He
doesn’t have near the range that Chris Carabba has (few people
do).  Gleason got better, but honestly, even at his most recent
shows he was unable to hit all the notes…  but people grew to
not care so much, and he learned to hide it better, or to adapt the
vocals to more suit his range…. this was him making the song his own,
and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.  This is something
that Jon Bunch has not had time to do yet.  Also consider this:
When Gleason joined, he had only to learn about 12 songs (TMID, Justice
Previals, and Veangance Factor)…  Jon Bunch not only has to
learn about twice that many, he also had to write and learn 10 more,
thanks to the oh-so-loved Gleason’s departure.

As a random other reason that I just thought of… the sound was
actually really bad there….   like the mix was
horrible.  maybe it’s cuz it was main stage… i tend to remember
sound on main stage usually being kinda bad… maybe it was also
because they were opening for Blindside and POD.  These are big
bands… perhaps the blue mix strikes again.

Anyway, the reason why I write this is because I am amazed at how fickle people
can be.  I can understand if you didn’t love the show, to be
honest I was disappointed with how it turned out, I had high
hopes.  I guess I can understand leaving the show.  I
personally chose to stay and be supportive of them, largely because
Further Seems Forever is one of, if not my favorite, bands.
People leaving didn’t tick me off, although I don’t think anything else
was really going on at the time…., so in that way i don’t
understand… i mean he wasn’t painful to listen to or anything… it
just wasn’t the best FSF show ever.  What ticked me off was people
screaming things like “Jon Bunch you suck” and the like.  Keep in
mind that if it were not for Jon Bunch Further Seems Forever wouldn’t
exist anymore at all.  You lose absolutely nothing by Jon Bunch
being in the band.  If you don’t like them anymore, it’s cool,
don’t go see them.  You wouldn’t even have the option if it
weren’t for him.  You still have the first 2 cds.  People
decided by about halfway through the moon is down (the second song
played, the first old song) that he sucked.  Honestly speaking,
that’s not really giving him a fair shot.  The people that
remained I don’t think even realized that he did an amazing job on New
Year’s Project, because their decision had already been made.

Anyway, having listened to the pre-release of Hide Nothing now, I think
that the cd will do really well, and, given the right promotion, etc,
Further Seems Forever will be likely to take off pretty well… which I
really hope happens, because they deserve it.  Anyway, this post
is way longer then I intended it to be.  Don’t take it personal if
you didn’t like their set.  But maybe you should check them out
again the next time they come through your town, because I really think
that they’re going to be something good.

Read the next post if you are wondering why this is posted here and not misthios.

so apparently misthios.net shall be no more.  if you are here you
have likely already noticed that… or else i guess you just neglected
to realize that i didn’t update here anymore or something…. 😉

anyway, i don’t know if i will write here much or anything…  i
am going to look into getting my own domain and hosting for my
site.  so hopefully i will have a cool site up again soon.  i
will probably even work on a new and improved design or
something.  but anyway, that’s it for now. leave some comments if
you feel like it.

Hi.
I know I said I wasn’t going to post, but I figured there are probably
a good many of you curious about the movie The Passion of the Christ,
which I saw a few days ago in Orlando.  Now, it’s not really
possible to give many spoilers, but I will refrain from giving away
some of the things that weren’t really expected but were really
cool.  But anyway…. The way the scene after when Judas betrayed Jesus was
handled was awesome.  As was… well… every other scene in the
movie ;).  There are subtittles, in case you were wondering.
But not for every single line that is said.  You really don’t need
them anyway, but they are kind of helpful in a couple parts.  But
I never really thought about the subtitles after the first 2 or 3
minutes.  In short, thie movie is incredible and astounding.
I had VERY high expectations, and they were met in every way.

So go see it.  February 25th.  Seriously, go out the first
day of it’s release.  The film will be shown in 2,000 theaters (I
believe that # is just the US), which, bu the way, is on par with many
movies that are major studio releases (New Market Films, which is the
distributor, is NOT a major studio) and by the way, that makes this the
first film of it’s type to be shown on that many screens.  If the
movie does well on those screens, it will likely be picked up by more,
so make sure to make it out the first day or weekend.  You will
not be disappointed.  Also, since many people from church back
home read this, apparently there are some theaters showing it that will
let you rent out the entire  theater for big groups the 2 days
before the 25th to see it.  I don’t really know how that works,
but if a lot of people want to do that, that might be cool for you to
do.  Oh yeah, and remember that the movie is very intense and
violent.  It has received an R rating, so keep that in mind if
considering taking younger kids.

Until the movie is released, you may want to try and check out the
latest issue of Relevant Magazine (www.relevantmagazine.com) , which
features a great article on the movie.

Godspeed.

hi.

i don’t think i will update this much for awhile…  maybe when i
get a blog on my own site i will write on it.  or maybe after
awhile i will want to write on here again.

but for now…  i don’t.

bye.

So in maybe a half hour to an hour I am going to start my running thing
again.  This semester I am really going to get back into it.
I have slacked off on it way too much.

Oh, I cleaned up the dorm room last night.  It is the cleanest it
has been since when I first got here last semester. 😉  It’s
really kind of nice.  I think I’ll keep it this way.

I am not really used to limited sleep again yet.  I’m real tired
right now.  Stupid not being able to sleep 12 hours a night.

This wednesday will be the beginning of the Beyond All Limits
conference in Orlando, FL.  I will be attending it.  And as I
am wanting to go into film… clearly I am going primarily to hear Mel
Gibson speak, and to see his new movie, The Passion of the Christ,
which will be shown there.  Apparently it is going to be uncut as
well.  And I get to be excused from class to go.  Good times.

Anyway, that is all I really wanted to say.

bye now.

i got my new monitor upon waking up today.  It is awesome and
good.  I will have to play some FF11 on it later today after class
😉

Edit:

So for the record, I really really like this monitor.  I haven’t
had a chance to play any games on it yet, but it should do well.
The picture is incredibly clear and amazing.  And it is nice and
light.  No more of that rediculous extremely heavy monitor
carrying.  I might actually be willing to take it with me to one
of Club Hub’s all nighters.

My roommate is still heavily addicted to Priston Tale for some unknown
reason.  Having played the game myself I find it to be
entertaining for breif periods, but as far as being a game worthy of
holding my attention for long periods of time….  it is
lacking.  After dinner if he continues to play I will be forced to
kick him off so I can get on Final Fantasy for awhile.

Anyway, school is going good so far…  I am going to love my
directing class.  I took it thinking it was strictly like play
directing… but we are going to be studying stuff for film directing
also, which is why I actually took the class… I figured some stuff
HAD to overlap 😉  but anyway, yeah, it’s going to be great.

I didn’t have to go to my dumb math class.  They said if we had
taken college algebra previously we didn’t need to come today.  So
that was good.

Tae Kwon Do was great, as always.  Have an awesome
instructor.  Stayed after like a half hour talking with him and
some of the higher ranking students.

Tomorrow will be interesting.  I think Thursdays are going to be
my rough days this semester.  But that is ok, at least it will be
interesting classes.

Oh yeah, and it’s nice and warm outside.  Nothing like driving
around with the windows down and the moon roof open in shorts and a
t-shirt.  No more of that coat nonsense.

So in short, I am glad I am back in FL.

Oh, and if anyone is upset because I didn’t say bye to them or anything
like that, I will not listen to your complaining.  I made effort
both sunday and monday to hang out, but there were few people to be
found (none on sunday, in fact).  And while I wanted to stop by
Oasis on tuesday, it could not be done due to family plans that I
wasn’t really aware of until the night before.

So if you feel left out, then umm… this is me telling you bye, and i’ll see you in a few months i guess.

later 😉

hey so check it out… i’m posting and stuff.  how about that?

anyway, i was just doing my thing online… basically what i have done every day for the mostpart while at home….  check xanga, check e-mail, check the forums i talk on… and i came across something interesting on one of the forums….  it was related to Tooth and Nail as a sucky label… so I was reading it.. just to see what was there to learn about them…..  anyway, the first thing that I thought was funny was this great quote from Jessie Smith of Zao ;)…. “There are bands on Solidstate that did several tours and made videos but ZAO has sold 200.000 more albums than they did. And we never made one dollar from it. And I am very happy that I have the opportunity to say that I really hate Solidstate and that Brandon Ebel is a thief and a rapist!” “I really mean this! And he makes millions of dollars by raping young bands and using the name of Chirstianity. You can interview any band on solidstate and they will tell you all the same.”

Anyway, then Project 86 was mentioned… and it was a real long post, but, seeing as they are among my favorite bands, I decided it was worth the time 😉  anyway, I found this to be very interesting… so I think that you should read it.  I will past the whole thing here (not all is related to T&N, but most is)… at the bottom is a link to the page where it was originally posted:

The truth on Truthless Heroes

Did you know…

1. That the song “Spy Hunter” is actually about a friend of the band who went to church with Andrew several years ago. The song is not about the friend, but about a quite well-known Pastor who molested him and then covered up the crime through manipulation of the church elder board.

2. That the song “Numb” is Andrew’s reaction to the rape of his girlfriend, which took place during the writing process of their first record.

3. That the irony that is Truthless Heroes runs far deeper than any of you could ever imagine…

A. The song “Last Meal” is in fact about Tooth and Nail. When Ebel, Inc. signed the band he discouraged legal cousel and threatened to pull out of the deal if the band sought legal counsel. He subsequently got them to sign for SEVEN records at a royalty rate that the P86 mgmt and legal team would, years later, analyze and determine was bordering on slavery and criminal. The song “Last Meal” is about bringing justice to the situation…see further below.

B. The song “Your Heroes Are Dead” is, in fact, about P86s former mgmt team, the supposed “Christian” management team who has singlehandedly taken POD and Blindside from virtual obscurity to what they are today. P86 was politically leveraged out of the equation because said mgmt decided that they were not worthy of the attention necessary to break the band. Money was taken unethically from P86 just prior to the parting of ways, and TH was sacrificed because the band had no manager to work it. This is the main reason that neither TH nor DBL recieved the attention from ATLANTIC it deserved. Yes, management companies have a lot of weight in this business and can actually decide who succeeds, and who fails. The song is about having no support whatsoever from the people who promised it.

C. That from the beginning, TH was written as a means to get Atlantic to buy the contract from Tooth and Nail, and thus get P86 out of their horrible scenerio. In many ways the songs, the lyrics, the creativity were controlled by Atlantic. This had an influence on how the songs sounded, the preponderance of melody, and the loss of the “rawness” of DBL. The band responded by writing a record cloaked in metaphor about the powerlessness of being on a major label that controls a large majority of what you do.

D. That, ironically, Atlantic did in fact buy Project out their deal after a year and a half of negotiation, sleepless nights, heartache, headache, and betrayal. Said mgmt. almost blew the deal off the day before it was to be finished because they deemed it “not a good enough deal,” though it in fact was a deal that would pay almost double the royalties that they were getting before. Nevermind the fact that said mgmt. had never taken the time to look over the p86 contract for the first three years of their relationship, during which time P86 constantly fought to have their business affairs handled in a timely, ethical, and honest manner, which they never actually were.

E. That the reason why P86 will never again tour with POD and Blindside is because said mgmt will never allow it.

F. That the hero who dies tragically in the TH story was, in fact, a metaphor for the fact that this record actually WAS sacrificed and killed so that P86 could get out of all these situations. It DID get them out of their mgmt deal and record deals so they could bring the truth, and REAL MUSIC back to you, the fans, where it belongs without all the bullshit.

G. That the band cannot expose any of this for legal reasons, threats of lawsuits, and restraining clauses in their former record deals.

WHO LAUGHS LAST???

More to come…

Before you ask who I am, realize I am not a member of the band, but a very close friend of theirs who has posted this information becuase the truth must be heard.

REALIZE IT IS YOU, THE FANS, THAT STAND BEHIND THIS GREAT BAND AND GIVE THEM THE POWER TO STAND FIRM ALONE, WITH YOU, WITHOUT THE INTERFERENCE OF LABELS AND OTHER INDUSTRY WHORES. YOU GIVE THEM THE POWER AND THE NERVE BY SUPPORTING THEM BY ANY AND ALL MEANS AVAILABLE TO YOU.

spread this information to all who deserve to hear it…

There is a God and he does care about his children when they are oppressed…
