I got my Zodiac in the mail yesterday.  I was too occupied using
it to post anything about it.  Actually, rather, I was too
occupied trying to get it to sync with my calendar and address book on
my laptop to do that.  I did finally get it working….  i
had to download the palmos isync conduit, which it really annoys me
that that isn’t installed in OS X by default.  Come on Apple, Palm
isn’t that rare, especially not among your users.  and the file is
like a meg.  Maybe Tiger will support it by default.

Anyway, it’s really cool.  very nice screen, pretty good
sound.  It came with the crappiest ear buds I’ve ever seen, so I
certainly won’t be using them.  I stuck one in my ear and wanted
to die because it was stretching my ear out to maximum potential.
The designer of the earbuds clearly had freakishly large ear
lobes.  Also, there was no free hot brunette with it.
Apparently that was all just hype.  I’m a little
disappointed.   Only a little.

Tomorrow… when I wake up… and get to school… (assuming i sleep
here at matt’s apartment)…  I will have my Zodiac waiting for me
in the mailroom.  That is some fast shipping, but my tracking
thing tells me it is currently in Orlando.  Those folks at Tapwave
are good folks indeed.

I can’t wait.

So awhile back I was talking about how I was going to get an
iPod.  If you don’t know, I never did do that… because I decided
that I was going to get something else.  Something perhaps more
practical…. certainly more versatile… but.. that doesn’t mean I
won’t eventually get an ipod as well…  it just means that… I
got this first.

Anyway, yesterday I went ahead and purchased a Tapwave Zodiac.  It certainly seems to be pretty nice, and I look forward to having it in my possession.

That is all.

The more I listen to this… The more I like it….  I can’t wait
till the cd comes out…. so I can listen to it on something other then
PureVolume 😛

Interesting things that I found out today:

1.) I will be walking in the graduation ceremony on April 30th.
2.) I may have 129 credit hours (3 hours more then is needed for
graduation).  If this is the case, I will not have to take any
summer classes (except potentially retaking Comm Theory).  Of
course, I might only have 123 and a half credit hours.  It depends
on whose records are more correct  (please let Wade’s be correct)
3.) Actually that’s all I found out.  But it seemed like a lot before I wrote this post….  oh well.

eh, not so much anti-social as anti-music they play in the cafe.
If someone comes over and says hey I am willing to take off my
headphones 😉

anyway, i got linux running last night… beyond any point i’ve had
linux running before…ie, I could get on the internet…. but i am not
sure about my choice of distro…  not that it’s particularly hard
to use… it seems the equivalent of previous distros I have tried to
use (Redhat, Mandrake), but… it has virtually no support… whether
from they themselves or from community….  there is only a forum
where I have recieved limited help.  So I might switch back to
Mandrake or Red Hat… for that reason.  But I dunno.  I
would like to get to the point where I can use primarily that… and
Windows only when I absolutely had to.  Anyway, I am using a
fairly new distro called YOPER.  Oh yeah, and it would also help
if I could download ANYTHING precompiled for it…  my attempts at
compiling source code have failed… even though i followed the exact
directions for doing so….  eh.. what are you going to do?

I will be at Southeastern for at least one summer session.  That’s
3 weeks of fun.  3 hour classes 5 days a week… that’s 6 hours of
class a day if I take 2 classes, as I probably will.  With about a
half hour for lunch.  Now that’s what I call fun.  I don’t
know what I will take yet.  I am deciding with the hardness to
boring ratio.  the ideal class would have a small amount of
hardness with a small amount of boring.  We want to keep these
near the same level though, as I do not want to take an extremely hard
but not boring class, nor do I want to take an extremely boring class
that is easy.  Then, we don’t want them both high either…..
extremely hard and boring would be the worst possible
combination.  You know, maybe this whole ratio thing is
stupid.  I want an easy but moderately interesting class 😉

Yeah so I heard about this new project involving David Bazan today… it’s called Headphones… you should check them out.

Umm.. it’s late, so I’m going to go to bed, so that’s all I have to say.

“you don’t regret it. i don’t regret it anymore.

i’m supposed to call you to make sure you know

i know it’s over you’ve known it’s over for awhile

why the smoke screen why can’t you say what you mean

all the stolen kisses all the pink and brown

if you want to end it babe just pull the plug and shut it down

no one sees it coming but every body knows

if you want the money you just have to take it.

if you don’t regret it then what’s with you staring at the floor

all remorseful like you’re not sure what happened

all the stolen kisses all the pink and brown

if you want to end it you just pull the plug and shut it down

no one sees it coming but every body knows

if you want the money then just have to take it

or you’ll never make it”

well, i don’t know… number 3 seems to have failed to arrive.  I can’t say I am entirely disappointed.

So, on Friday, I decided it would be a good day to format my hard
drive, and reinstall windows and all that.  Since much to my
disappointment, my ethernet card is actually broken, and it’s not just
Windows being dumb, and I therefore still could not use it online, I
decided what the heck, I’d download a linux iso on my powerbook, burn a
cd, and install it.

Anyway, first I tried out Mandrake Linux, which was working pretty
well, except apparently installing a Linksys wireless card in Linux
requires extensive knowledge.

Not completely satisfied with Mandrake, and having stumbled upon a
website about a newer distro, called YOPER, and having an interest in
it sparked, I decided to give it a try.

It actually looks really nice and functions pretty well….  but
was a little more difficult to set up.  For one, you have to
manually set your resolution capabilities manually in this config
utility… which isn’t hard, but uhh.. it confused me for awhile why i
couldn’t get my resolution above 640×480….   The next
exciting thing was trying to get Windows to boot again.  For some
reason, the boot loader didn’t automatically have Windows as an
option….  and it took far longer then it should have to figure
it out.  I was confused at first because both my hds are on my
secondary IDE, and so they are /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd… you know,
instead of /dev/hda….  yeah.  and so i was all “What do you
mean there’s no hda!  there is an hda!”  But I admit it, I
was wrong….  there is no hda.  Only an hdc.  By the
time I figured this out, my boot loader’s probe button had royally
screwed up my lilo config, and so…  I had to rewrite it from
scratch… which was certainly enjoyable.

Now I can access my windows partition, but for some reason Windows decided to break itself, and so now I am reinstalling it.

On the plus side, except for reinstalling Windows…  this has
been at least moderately entertaining… since i have my powerbook to
do things on and therefore don’t get too frustrated with my other
computer not working completely.

I am suffering from a series of bad luck.

As we all know, bad luck comes in 3’s, and so I am somewhat worried about what the third thing will be.

Yesterday, I locked my keys in the trunk of my car.  I called a
locksmith, but he never showed up.  At least, not while I was
there.  Some 3 and a half hours later he left a voicemail at my
phone, and had arrived at my car, but, no one was there.  hmmm..
imagine that.  people don’t wait outside by their cars for 3 and
half hours.  Anyway, that was resolved today when I recieved a
copy of the key that my mom overnighted to me.

As for #2, I woke up this morning and remembered that I hadn’t watched
the newest episode of Lost yet.  So, I pulled out my powerbook and
started watching it.  The quality of this ep really sucked… the
video kept cutting out and it was choppy in parts…. but that’s not
the bad luck part, that’s just me complaining.  My roommate
started talking to me, and I turned my head.  Shortly thereafter,
I felt a jerk on my headphones as my powerbook fell to the floor from
my relatively high bed.  I did not immediately notice anything
wrong, but when I got to the cafe I noticed the case is bent up by the
cd drive.  It is not presently known whether or not the drive is
still operational.  (I am afraid that it will let a cd in, but not
let a cd out.)

On the up side, it should be covered by the Applecare Protection
Plan….  so I will be getting something with that $350.  On
the downside, I will be without my powerbook for a few days… starting
probably on like… tuesday.

Here’s hoping 3 doesn’t suck too bad….
