Day Ninety

90! It’s finally here… the final day of the 90 Day commitment.

It seemed like a long time at first, but it’s gone by pretty quickly. Enough so that adding on this extra 11 days doesn’t seem so bad.

I am trying to make a decision about what to do next… revert to the slow carb diet rules and have a cheat day once a week? Do calorie counting but have one day a week where I get some extra calories? (Say 1500/day 6 days of the week and 2500 on the cheat day?)

It will most likely be one of those things, unless I think of something else or someone suggests something to me that I think might work better. Whichever I choose will carry me through the holidays… and so I might choose the latter- as then even on a non-cheat day I could have something “junky”, I’d just have to sacrifice real food… haha. That will mostly only be impactful the week of Christmas though, when there will be lots of temptations.

Anyway, here is what you’ve been waiting for… charts!

Here is the whole 90 days. Keep in mind I didn’t start recording my weight daily (or at all) until September 4. So aside from the start weight, there were no data points until then…

Here’s the last 30 days:

I’m going to keep inputting my weight daily indefinitely… even when I am done trying to achieve weight loss… the idea being when I see it starting to trend up, I can make changes. I really do want this to stick. This is the 4th time in my life I’ve put in significant weight loss, so it’s time I learned to keep it off.

After the new year, if I haven’t yet reached 165, I might change back to this diet again until I do. I’m set on that number now, because I’m close enough to 174 that I know I will have the extra 9 pounds to lose.

Anyway, 90. Major League Baseball bases are 90 feet apart!

Day Eighty-Nine

89! Oops – this one is coming in the morning after because I got tired a bit early and passed out without remembering to type up a post.

The good news is that I did have that downtick yesterday morning, so that’s a good thing. I did accidentally consume a swallow of a sweetened beverage yesterday – it was “sparkling water” – I didn’t think to check for sugar before buying it. In any case, it only took one swallow to figure it out, so… don’t think it will do any damage.

Ok so that’ll be it for now… tonight will come the last post of the 90 day commitment, tomorrow starts the bonus round!

89…. You know what? I literally can’t find anything interesting about this number. You’re on your own.

Day Eighty-Eight

88! Only 2 more days (and then of course the “bonus round” will follow).

Skipped out on the run today – I think I’ll make Saturday my next run, start the mid-week runs again next week.

Not a whole lot to report on really. Weight has continued to be hovering just below 180 still. Probably will see the next dip in the next day or so.

As for 88… 88 MPH is the speed at which you must go to travel through time via a flux capacitor.

Day Eighty-Seven

87. Just 3 more days to go and I’ll have completed my commitment!

So close to the end… it’s late, so I’m going to keep this short, but I promised my next commitment following the 90 days.

So… here it is… my next commitment is to extend this diet through the end of October. If my math is correct, I think it will take me to Day 101. I’ll keep doing these updates through that time as well.

Part of the reason is… this diet has been working really well, I’m kind of scared to change it up while I feel like I’m on a roll…

Pretty sure after that I’ll switch to the old slow carb diet.. but, I’m not sure – if I keep feeling like this diet is working to get me to where I want to be… maybe I’ll just keep going with it.

87. The number of years between the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence and the Battle of Gettysburg, immortalized in Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address with the phrase “fourscore and seven years ago…”

Day Eighty-Six

86. That’s 4 days remaining. As good as there.

I’m loving the weather we’ve been having here lately… finally cooled off, though, of course, it kinda skipped over moderate temperatures completely. Oh well. I’ll take 50’s, it’s pretty nice.

That 5k and bike ride on sunday took a lot out of me, still feeling a bit sore – I’m gonna try to get another run in either tomorrow or Thursday. Both are looking fine in regard to weather, so, we’ll see how I’m feeling tomorrow and base it off that.

Tomorrow I’ll officially commit to what my next step post day 90 is.

Alright, so, 86. Maxwell Smart of the TV series Get Smart had been designated Agent 86.

Day Eighty-Five

85! Alright, there’s just 5 days left until I reach the end of the 90 day goal! For the most part, it’s not been as bad as I thought it would be, though obviously I had a few challenging days here and there. But I only really felt like quitting once, and that was only for one day.

Both yesterday and today my weigh-ins were in the high 170’s (179 point something both days) – and so that also has me feeling pretty good. You don’t get to see the first number change too often (for me only once), so seeing the 2nd number change always feels like a big accomplishment.

At this point, I’ve not been wearing any of my XL clothes anymore at all… or the bigger L ones. I still have a few M’s that don’t fit just yet, but are getting close… But being able to wear these clothes feels good. So I’ve pretty much shifted my entire wardrobe now.

I was able to locate the time for yesterday’s 5K. It’s not an amazing time, but surprisingly it’s on par with some of my better recent solo 5k runs that I was doing in preparation, despite the fact that this run was most definitely harder – I mean, I didn’t have obstacles and such on any of my solo stuff, and even just the course itself was way hillier.

Time was: 31:52, a pace of 10:16/mile

Ok, so… 85. There are 85 Federalist Papers, the last of which, “Concluding Remarks”, was written by Alexander Hamilton.

Day Eighty-Four

84. So today was the day of the 5k.

It went pretty well, honestly. Now, the 5k was a bit different than I expected… there were obstacles and such… they had us run up and then down several stories of a parking deck. So it was not flat as I had hoped. The amount of walking I did was pretty limited, and was mostly when an obstacle sort of broke my rhythm. In any case, I was pretty much expecting I’d be walking across the finish line, and that wasn’t the case, so, I’m happy with it.

Then later in the day I went on a bike ride. Not bad, but, I am pretty tired now.

Nothing to report diet-wise except that it continues to go well.

Alright, 84… How many Earth years it takes Uranus to orbit the sun once.

Day Eighty-Three

83! Yet another day down, and only 7 more to go.

Tomorrow is the first of the two 5Ks that I am signed up for. Things have cooled down quite a bit in the past few days, which I am quite glad for, as it will likely make completing it without walking at all a bit easier for me… Though, I am prepared to walk if need be.

Once that is done, I have plans to go for a bike ride, which should be pretty nice. So, tomorrow will be lots of physical activity… whereas today was not so much.

I spent the morning doing some writing, and then a few housekeeping type things I’d been putting off for awhile… then I spent the rest of the day playing Final Fantasy XIV. Walked the dog a few times in there as well, so, not completely devoid of movement… but, a fairly lazy Saturday.

So with tomorrow starting the final week of the 90 day commitment, I really should probably officially make my decision about what I am going to do after it soon. According to my app, after this week I will be at 177.5, which is 2.5 above where I “hoped” to be – I won’t call it a goal, because I figured it was unlikely I’d get there in 90 days. I think where I HAVE gotten to is pretty good for that time period, but, it’s not my ultimate destination. In fact, neither is 175… 165 is where I’m headed. So you can be sure that some sort of continued diet is in my future.

We’ll talk about it on Day 87 or 88. I’ll have officially made a decision by then.

Anyway, 83. Apparently, when a Jewish person reaches 83 they may celebrate a second bar mitzvah. I didn’t know that until a few moments ago.

Day Eighty-One

81! That mean’s 9 days left…

My scale’s batteries crapped out on me this morning, and then I forgot to get new ones… I took the old ones out and put them back in and it’s working again for now, but, I’m sure time is short for them. Need some new ones.

Didn’t run – super humid out, and also rainy… oh well. I’ll go into Sunday’s 5k well rested at least. Hoping I’ll be able to do the whole thing without stopping – if it’s flatter than my normal route, that might be possible.

Anyway, that’s it for tonight. 81…. ‘The Eighty-One Brothers’ is a Japanese fable. I know nothing about it. If it wasn’t so late, I’d spend time looking it up and tell you something about it… but, this time around, you’re on your own. Google it!
