<\/center>So I guess I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon and join the Jon Bunch haters. Here’s why:<\/p>\n
Reason the first: Jonathan Bunch can’t sing. I mean,
\nthis one is the most obvious… the guy can’t carry a tune worth
\nanything… I mean really, my dog can sing better then this
\nguy. They really should just pick up a bum off the street and pay
\nhim to sing… he couldn’t be any worse. I mean… who are these
\n“Sense Field” guys anyway?<\/p>\n
Reason the Second: He’s old. I mean how old is this
\nguy anyway? Late 50’s? They might want to give him a walker
\nor something… i mean i thought the guy was going to die of a heart
\nattack or something….<\/p>\n
Reason the Third: No stage presence. Watching this guy is like watching paint dry. Really old paint, at that.<\/p>\n
Reason the Fourth: He’s not “scene” enough. I mean… Chris
\nwas emo, and Jason was hardcore…. this guy’s like…
\njean… jacket.. man….<\/p>\n
Reason the Fifth: He doesn’t sound like or have the same range as Chris Carabba.<\/p>\n
Reason the Sixth: He doesn’t sound like or have the same range as Jason Gleason.<\/p>\n
Reason the Seventh: He lives in California while the rest of the guys
\nlive in FL, and has only been in the band for a total of about 2
\nmonths. One of which was spent writing for and recording the new
\nalbum.<\/p>\n
Reason the Eighth: Cornerstone was only the second time he has
\never done a live show with Further Seems Forever, and the first time he
\never sang any of the old songs in front of a real audience, with the
\none exception being The Moon Is Down.<\/p>\n
maybe you can see where this is going, or maybe you can’t. i know
\nsome people are sarcasm impaired, so here… let me spell it out for
\nyou….<\/p>\n
1. Jon Bunch is actually a really good vocalist. Go listen to a
\nSense Field cd. Download a copy of the pre-release of Hide
\nNothing. Give an honest listen to the clip of their C-stone show
\nat cornerstonefestival.com. Keep in mind that there is a reason
\nthat Sense Field did as well as they did, which, by the way, is far
\nbetter then Further Seems Forever has done thus far.<\/p>\n
2. He’s old compared to Jason Gleason. He is actually
\npretty much on par with the age of the rest of this band members (early
\n30’s). This really has very little to do with talent and the like
\nanyway, but i mean hey, it’s one of the things I’ve heard said, so I
\nthought I’d throw it in there…<\/p>\n
3. While this is perhaps the most legitimate criticism of what I
\nheard, he really wasn’t that bad, all things considered, but from what
\ni have heard he was somewhat lacking in stage presence when in Sense
\nField as well. It would be nice if he were to be more energetic
\nin the shows, but I do not think that FSF’s success depends on it.<\/p>\n
4. Yeah… he’s really not very scene. Then, neither is the
\nrest of Further Seems Forever. The fact that they are no longer
\nfronted by a hot scene kid probably will make a good many people
\ndislike them.<\/p>\n
5 &6. Maybe you haven’t been listening to FSF long enough to
\nremember the switch from Carabba to Gleason. I started listening
\nto them during the switch, and while I never saw Carabba live, I saw a
\nlot of Jason haters out there. Lots of people saying how much he
\nsucked and could never compare to Chris. The exact same things
\nthat I hear about Jon now. Jon is different from Jason, no doubt
\nabout it, but Jason was different then Chris. Further Seems
\nForever will be good regardless.<\/p>\n
7. Yeah, this is a real reason. When you live on the opposite
\nside of the country from the rest of your band it’s probably somewhat
\ndifficult to squeeze in practice time. The guy hasn’t had enough
\ntime to make these songs his own yet.<\/p>\n
8. This reason follows from 7… twice he has performed with FSF.
\nThat’s it. How can you hold a guy who has played 2 shows to the
\nsame standard as a guy who played hundreds? Did he miss
\nnotes? yes. On the OLD songs, which he barely knows, and
\nwhich were written for people with entirely different vocal ranges then
\nhimself. Guess who else missed a lot of notes on songs when he
\nfirst joined the band….. you got it, Jason Gleason. He
\ndoesn’t have near the range that Chris Carabba has (few people
\ndo). Gleason got better, but honestly, even at his most recent
\nshows he was unable to hit all the notes… but people grew to
\nnot care so much, and he learned to hide it better, or to adapt the
\nvocals to more suit his range…. this was him making the song his own,
\nand there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. This is something
\nthat Jon Bunch has not had time to do yet. Also consider this:
\nWhen Gleason joined, he had only to learn about 12 songs (TMID, Justice
\nPrevials, and Veangance Factor)… Jon Bunch not only has to
\nlearn about twice that many, he also had to write and learn 10 more,
\nthanks to the oh-so-loved Gleason’s departure.<\/p>\n
As a random other reason that I just thought of… the sound was
\nactually really bad there…. like the mix was
\nhorrible. maybe it’s cuz it was main stage… i tend to remember
\nsound on main stage usually being kinda bad… maybe it was also
\nbecause they were opening for Blindside and POD. These are big
\nbands… perhaps the blue mix strikes again.<\/p>\n
Anyway, the reason why I write this is because I am amazed at how fickle people
\ncan be. I can understand if you didn’t love the show, to be
\nhonest I was disappointed with how it turned out, I had high
\nhopes. I guess I can understand leaving the show. I
\npersonally chose to stay and be supportive of them, largely because
\nFurther Seems Forever is one of, if not my favorite, bands.
\nPeople leaving didn’t tick me off, although I don’t think anything else
\nwas really going on at the time…., so in that way i don’t
\nunderstand… i mean he wasn’t painful to listen to or anything… it
\njust wasn’t the best FSF show ever. What ticked me off was people
\nscreaming things like “Jon Bunch you suck” and the like. Keep in
\nmind that if it were not for Jon Bunch Further Seems Forever wouldn’t
\nexist anymore at all. You lose absolutely nothing by Jon Bunch
\nbeing in the band. If you don’t like them anymore, it’s cool,
\ndon’t go see them. You wouldn’t even have the option if it
\nweren’t for him. You still have the first 2 cds. People
\ndecided by about halfway through the moon is down (the second song
\nplayed, the first old song) that he sucked. Honestly speaking,
\nthat’s not really giving him a fair shot. The people that
\nremained I don’t think even realized that he did an amazing job on New
\nYear’s Project, because their decision had already been made.<\/p>\n
Anyway, having listened to the pre-release of Hide Nothing now, I think
\nthat the cd will do really well, and, given the right promotion, etc,
\nFurther Seems Forever will be likely to take off pretty well… which I
\nreally hope happens, because they deserve it. Anyway, this post
\nis way longer then I intended it to be. Don’t take it personal if
\nyou didn’t like their set. But maybe you should check them out
\nagain the next time they come through your town, because I really think
\nthat they’re going to be something good.<\/p>\n
