So I just finished watching THX 1138 for the first time. For
\nthose who don’t know, it is George Lucas’ first feature film. If
\nyou watch A New Hope, you can hear it mentioned… one of the storm
\ntroopers says something about 1138… like a model number of a droid or
\nsomething.<\/p>\n
Anyway, from a technical perspective it’s really pretty good. It
\nis visually interesting, the shots are well composed (except for a few
\nthings which I think he inserted later, because of him being George
\nLucas and feeling compelled to mess things up by adding worthless
\nthings to them later, as is evident in Star Wars.)
\nHowever, from a story standpoint it could have been better. It is
\nhard to care about any of the characters because you feel very distant
\nfrom everyone. You don’t really even have a clear idea of what
\nTHX wants until the the middle of the movie… and until the very end
\nit doesn’t seem like there is a means by which that could possibly be
\nachieved. But, I think it was beneficial for me to watch it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
